Hello music fans, I’m R E Fort and welcome to July’s Featured Tracks Playlist and Podcast. In this months playlist I am featuring 6 very cool tracks for summer listening. For July’s featured tracks playlist, we have six great tracks. To me, these tracks really fit summer perfectly. From my new cd Told Ya, we have two tracks the first is named For All the Good Times and the second Just Stay. From Living In Strange Times I added Run With Me. I also added two tracks from I’m Gonna Let it Ride the title track and Your Kiss. And the title track from Smooth As I Wanna Be rounds out the playlist. To start us off is the track For All the Good Times from the cd Told Ya. In this track I was experimenting with musical time signatures in this case 6/8. Simply put, 6/8 is an incredibly versatile time signature, one that’s driven some of the best known songs in pop, rock, and others. It gives more room to play with the instruments and melodies in the track. Now the guitar melody and solo is played on the Gibson SG the chords on the Fender Acoustic Eclectic. This is a very fun and cool track. Lets give For All the Good Times a listen.

Next up is Your Kiss from the cd I’m Gonna Let it Ride. This is a hot smooth jazz track with a big sound. I love this tracks groove and guitar sound. I am using the Fender Stratocaster for this tracks chords, melody and solo. The track has a big sound to it with Strings Horns rhythm guitar and that great drum programming. I am sure you are going to fall in love with this one as much as I have. Let’s give Your Kiss a listen.

Next up is Run With Me from the cd Living In Strange Times. This another 6/8 track that is an upbeat, up tempo smooth jazz track that is very cool. I love this tracks groove, with it’s walking bass guitar line, and drums. In songs like this one, think of the guitar and the piano as having a conversation. So while the bass guitar, drums and chords are holding down the foundation. The guitar and piano are talking back and forth in a complex flurry of notes or if you will words. Check out the Stratocaster solo towards the end of the track. I really love this track. Let’s give Run With Me a listen.

Next up is the title track from I’m Gonna Let it Ride, I’m Gonna Let It Ride. This is track is a hot blues track with a killer rhythm section and a hot walking bassline. I’m playing the Fender Stratocaster on this track for rhythm and solo work. Writing this track was a blast playing off of the drums and adding a little rock to the blues. Let’s give I’m Gonna Let it Ride a listen.

Next up is Smooth As I Wanna Be from the cd Smooth As I Wanna Be. This track is just Smooth, a very cool smooth jazz song that came about while playing chords and voicing. I love the bass guitar work and the chord changes in the track. It has a great vibe with a great sound canvas behind the melody and solos. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. The last track in this playlist is Just Stay from the cd Told Ya. Just Stay, Is what I would call a power ballad. I’m playing the Ibanez Hollow Body guitar for the melody along with the Grand Piano sound. The guitar solo is played using the Gibson SG. The Strings and Horns in this track push this to the next level. While this track starts offer soft and simple with just Rhodes electric piano and bass guitar, this track really builds. The third section of this track takes the song to a whole new level. With horns, strings killer walking bass line and a killer guitar solo on top. Let’s give Just Stay a listen.
