Hello, and welcome back to my website and podcast refort.co I’m R. E. Fort. I’m so excited to announce the release of my new CD Life on The Other Side. The tracks on this release are mostly soulful ballads with a smooth vibe and one hot fusion track. My wife Cheryl named the track and what would become the cd’s title. When I think of the title, Life on The Other Side, I see two couples on a beach at sunset, an older couple and a younger one. Showing the stages of life and of course that love can survive the tides of time. The tracks on this CD are Life on The Other Side, There’s Never Enough Time, There’ll Be Time for Us, Love’s All I Have to Give, Listen to Your Heart, All I Need Is in Your Eyes, Why Don’t Ya Just Let Us Play and Just Kick Back and Relax. Let’s get to the music.
The title track on this CD, Life on The Other Side is a soulful blues ballad. On this track, I used my work horse, the Fender Acoustic Electric for all the guitar work including that killer solo. I played the counter melody using a Rhodes Electric piano sound with the Fender Acoustic Electric. The melody is played using a Grand Piano sound and the same Fender Acoustic Electric. Let’s get to the music.[music_store_product id=”15445″]
There’ll Be Time for Us is a ballad about time and love. This one is almost a prayer, that there will be time for us. I am playing the melodies using a Rhodes Electric piano sound, my Martin acoustic electric and a little with the Stratocaster. The solo is the Fender Acoustic electric. I hear “one day, you will see, there will be time for us.” Let’s get to the music.[music_store_product id=”15443″]
Listen To Your Heart is a simply beautiful ballad. I started writing this track after hearing my daughter humming a melody. That melody inspired me to sit down at the piano and start writing. Adding in the piano chords, strings, guitar, drums, and bass line. I love how the strings and just the Grand Piano sound start this track. The Fender Acoustic sounds great on this track as the alternate melody and soon becoming the main melody. Thank you, Jessica, for the inspiration. Let’s get to the music.[music_store_product id=”15441″]
Why Don’t Ya Just Let Us Play is a big track with a kicking bass line, great rhythm guitar work, killer melody and solo. On this one I wanted a big blues/rock/fusion track that would get you moving. On this track I started playing with the bass guitar first and later recorded the rhythm guitar track. Keys and Horns came later. That drum programming was a blast to work on. I used the Gibson SG for the chords and melody and the Fender Stratocaster for the solo. That solo is so cool, the way it comes in towards the end of the track and really turns the song on its head. Let’s get to the music.[music_store_product id=”15439″]
There’s Never Enough Time is a beautiful ballad. I love the interplay of the melodies between the Fender Acoustic Electric and the Grand Piano. The chords are played using a Rhodes electric piano and soft rising strings sounds. I played the solo on my Gibson SG, and it sounds awesome giving this track a new vibe. I hear in this track, “Why is there never enough time. But we will find a way”. Let’s get to the music.[music_store_product id=”15444″]
Love’s All I Have to Give is a soulful and beautiful ballad. I always hear, “Loves All I have, I can’t give any more than that “. On this one, I am playing the melodies using my Grand Piano sound and my Fender Acoustic Electric. The chords are played using the Rhodes electric piano sound. The solo is also the Fender Acoustic electric. I love the way I came in with that solo on this track. This one is a beautiful, simple, and clean ballad with just Guitars, Keys, Bass and Drums. Let’s get to the music.[music_store_product id=”15442″]
All I Need Is in Your Eyes is a beautiful ballad. The melody came first on this track. In this track I kept it simple, Grand Piano for the chords with Soft rising Strings. On the bass guitar I am playing a busy but simple moving bass line. I played the melody using a Fender Rhodes piano sound and my Gibson SG. In this track I keep hearing “All I need to survive, is in your eyes“. Let’s get to the music.[music_store_product id=”15440″]
Just Kick Back and Relax is the last track on this cd. It came about as a fun little jam. On this track I really was just having fun playing my Martin acoustic electric and the song just came to me. I feel like this track is made for cruising around town or while walking along the beach, just humming a sweet little melody. On this one I am playing my Martin acoustic electric for all guitar work. I am playing the Grand Piano sound for the melody and the Rhodes Electric piano is playing chords. Let’s get to the music.[music_store_product id=”15438″]
