A Minute to Midnight (An Atlee Pine Thriller Book 2)

David Baldacci is one of my all-time favorite writers, and A Minute to Midnight is a great example of what makes him one of the greats. Baldacci’s strong characters, engaging and captivating stories and plot twist will leave your head spinning. This is why I believe Baldacci is up there with some of the greatest writers of our time.

In the book, A Minute to Midnight, Atlee and her assistant Carol are back in Atlee’s home town working on a very personal case. 30 years ago, her twin sister Mercy was taken, and Atlee was left for dead. With her career at the FBI on the line, she and Carol are back in rural Georgia trying to find answers to questions that have plagued Atlee’s entire life.

As they begin their investigation, a woman is found ritualistically murdered and left on display wearing an old wedding veil. Soon after, a second bizarre murder happens, and Atlee and Carol are asked by the local police to help with the case. Now as they search for answers to what happened to her twin sister Mercy, they’re also fighting the clock to stop a serial killer before more innocents are killed. But in small towns, secrets run deep, and time is running out.

This book is captivating, with twist and turns that leave your head spinning. On my scale of 1 to 5, 1 being don’t bother and 5 a real page turner, I give A Minute to Midnight, a 5. Baldacci has done it again and I can’t wait for the third book in the series.
