Featured Tracks Playlist December 2023

Hello, and Happy Holidays I’m R. E. Fort and welcome back to my podcast and this Featured Tracks Playlist December 2023 post. For the December playlist I have selected five great tracks that I hope you enjoy. The tracks are: Know That You’re Loved, Told Ya, Why Do I keep Running Back To You, My Haunted Mind and Life On The Other Side. I’ve created links to this playlist and shared them here in this post and on my website at refort.co/playlist, for YouTube, YouTube Music, Spotify, Pandora, iTunes, and Amazon Music. Let’s get to the playlist.

Starting us off this month is, Know That You’re Loved. A beautiful smooth jazz ballad from my CD, Living In Strange Times. This track starts with a sweet Rhodes electric piano sound, slowly adding in the string’s bass and drums. On this track I’m playing my Fender Acoustic Electric for the melody and solo. The groovy drums and a great bass guitar line keep this track moving. I love the sound of that Baby Grand Piano solo and how the guitar comes back in at the end of the solo. Let’s give Know That You’re Loved a listen.

Next up is the title track Told Ya. This smooth jazz ballad is a beautiful blend of soulful melodies and groovy beats that are sure to leave you feeling relaxed and uplifted. I’m playing the Ibanez Hollow Body guitar for the rhythm and the melody on this track. The solo is the Fender Stratocaster. On the keyboard side, I have horns and strings accenting throughout the song. For the piano chords and accents, I’m using the Rhodes electric piano sound.  Let’s give Told Ya a listen.

Next up is a great blues track Why Do I keep Running Back To You  from my CD Smooth As I Wanna Be. This is an up tempo, in your face blues track. When my brother Keith first heard the rough draft, he suggested I add a Hammond organ sound. As you can tell, I fell in love with how that organ sounds up against my Fender Stratocaster on the melody and solo for the track. I really like the bass guitar work and my drum programming on this track. This is one real hot blues track. Let’s give Why Do I keep Running Back To You a listen.

Next up is another favorite of mine from my CD Living In Strange Times, My Haunted Mind. This track started out on the bass guitar and that’s where the hook of the song came from. I liked it so much I decided to echo or repeat it using piano and melody guitar work. The keyboard chords are played using the Rhodes Electric piano sound and the piano solo is played using a Baby Grand sound. All the guitar work was played on my fender Stratocaster. The track is written in the key of C minor which to me always has a mysterious sound to it. Hence the title My Haunted Mind. I really love the great Blues track. Let’s give My Haunted Mind a listen.

The last track on December’s playlist is the title track Life On The Other Side. This is a soulful blues ballad. I’m using my work horse, the Fender Acoustic Electric for all the guitar work including the guitar solo on this track. I played the counter melody using a Rhodes Electric piano sound. The melody is played using a Grand Piano sound. I’m also using the Fender Acoustic Electric for both melody and counter melody. The guitar solo really is the same guitar with my rock solo effects on. I love how the solo came out. Let’s give Life On The Other Side a listen.
