Featured Tracks Playlist October 2024
Hello, I’m R.E. Fort, and welcome back to my podcast, and this episode of my Featured Tracks playlist, October 2024. As I have said before, each month I create a playlist of my favorite tracks and share them in this podcast. For October, I wanted to feature four very different tracks that I truly love. So, in this post we have Living In Strange Times, A Walk in The Rain, Told Ya, and Why Don’t Ya Just Let Us Play. As always, you can find links to this playlist for YouTube, YouTube Music, Spotify, Pandora, iTunes, and Amazon Music, in this post and on my website at refort.co/playlist. Let’s get to the playlist.
Podcast and Featured Tracks Playlist October 2024
The Playlist
Starting off this month’s playlist is the title track from my 2020 CD, Living In strange Times. This track along with the CD was written during the Covid-19 lock down when everyone was thinking what strange times we live in. What I love about this track is that cool bass line with those chord hits. I really love this track’s blues feel and its cool off tempo feel. On this track I used my Fender Acoustic for the melody and my Fender Stratocaster for the solo. I use two piano sounds on this track a Grand Piano for chords and a Rhodes Electric piano sound for solo and melody. Let’s give Living In strange Times a listen.
Next up is A Walk in The Rain from my 2017 CD 10. This track is so relaxing and beautiful, I simply love it. On this track I am doing all the finger picking, melody and solo work on my Fender Acoustic Electric guitar. This track falls into what I call an ambient ballad song. I’m using a grand piano sound on this track for chords, melody and counter melody. The track has some very beautiful guitar picking with layers of strings and a simple bass guitar line. As this track builds the piano starts with a soft melody which is later echoed by the Fender Acoustic electric guitar. The two instruments, the grand piano and guitar play off each other throughout the track. Let’s give A Walk in The Rain a listen.
Next up is the title track from my 2022 CD Told Ya. This track is a smooth jazz groove one that has some very cool layers to it. My wife Cheryl named the track when she heard the way the chords sounded, she just sang out Told Ya. This smooth jazz song has a great groove to it. I’m playing my Ibanez Hollow Body for the rhythm guitar work and the melody on this track. I used my Fender Stratocaster for that killer solo. What really gives this track such a great sound canvas, is the mix of Rhythm guitar, Rhodes piano and those subtle horns and strings. I just love this track. Let’s give Told Ya a listen.
The last song on this month’s playlist is, Why Don’t Ya Just Let Us Play from my 2023 CD Life On The Other Side. This track is a fun fusion track, fusing funk, blues and a little rock and roll. When started working on this track I feel in love with that bass guitar line and those killer drums I programmed in. The foundation or sound canvas for this track is the rhythm section, the rhythm guitar, Fender Rhodes chords, bass guitar, staccato horns, and those awesome drums. I used my Gibson SG for the rhythm guitar and melody. For the solo, I used my Fender Stratocaster. I love how the solo sounds at the end of this track, with the horns behind it. Let’s give Why Don’t Ya Just Let Us Play a listen.
