Hello and welcome back to my podcast, R. E. Fort Without Music Life Has No Soul. For the May Featured Tracks Playlist, I wanted a playlist with some touching ballads and up-tempo tracks to get you moving. So, for this month’s playlist I selected these tracks: Just Remember I’m Always There for You, Told Ya, Far from Home, Listen to Your Heart and lastly, So Cool. As always, I’ve created a playlist of these tracks on YouTube, YouTube Music, Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, with links in this post and on my website at refort.co/playlist. Let’s get to the playlist.
Podcast and Featured Tracks Playlist May 2026

First up is Just Remember I’m Always There for You, from my 2025 release, Stop Wait and Think. Now this is a huge track, with Strings, Horns, grand piano sound and a Rhodes electric piano sound. I am playing my Fender Stratocaster for the melody and chords. The piano comes in to help build out the melody. The strings really help define the verse from the chorus on this track. The solo on this track takes it to a new place, one that I call the rhythmic soul genre. That solo is so cool, and I had such a blast writing this track and playing it. Let’s give Just Remember I’m Always There for You a listen.
Next up is Told Ya, the title track from my 2022 release, Told Ya. From the opening chords and throughout the song I hear the title Told Ya. I really love this smooth jazz ballad’s melody and groove. As I have said before, the title of the song came from my wife Cheryl. She just sang it out one day while I was writing the track. On this one I’m playing the melody and rhythm guitar section on my Ibanez hollow body, and the solo is my Fender Stratocaster. I really love how the horns and strings came together on this track and its great bass guitar line. Let’s give Told Ya a listen.
Next up, Far from Home from my 2020 release Living in Strange Times. I love this cool blues track. It makes me think of a lonely soul, on the road working his way back to his love. In this track I wanted to keep it as simple as possible, just guitars, piano, bass guitar, and clean drum programming. On this one I’m playing my Fender Stratocaster for the chords and the solo. The melody is played using my Fender Acoustic electric. Let’s give Far from Home, a listen.
Next up is, Listen to Your Heart from my 2023 release, Life on the Other Side. This track is a beautiful, simple and clean ballad. It came about while I was listening to my daughter humming a melody and was inspired to start writing. So, I sat at the piano and started to expand on what I heard. I love the strings in this one with that grand piano playing the melody. The Fender Acoustic sounds great on this track as the alternate melody and soon becoming the main melody for this track. Let’s give Listen to Your Heart a listen.
To close out this month’s playlist is So Cool from my 2017 release 10. This track is a cool jazz jam. As I started writing the song I was using my Stratocaster but soon realized it would sound so much better on my 1980’s Schafer hollow body. I really love the bass line on this track, and as I started writing it, I knew had to add those cool little harmonics. I’m playing my Fender Stratocaster for the solo work, my 1980’s Schafer hollow body for the melody and chords. I love the drum programming on this track I think it came out so sweet.Let’s give So Cool a listen.
