Featured Tracks Playlist January 2023

Smooth As I Wanna Be

To start us off is Don’t Mess With Me from my cd Smooth As I Wanna Be. This track is a hot rock / blues track. I love the drum programming and the bass guitar work on this track. That bass guitar line really drives this track along with those gritty guitar chords. The lead and melody guitar work on this track is smoking hot. When I was writing this track, I wanted a little rock and a little funk. I think I nailed it on this hot track. Let’s give Don’t Mess With Me, listen.

Next up is I’m Gonna Let It Ride from the CD I’m Gonna Let It Ride. In this track I took a few very cool up-tempo, funk drum tracks, modified them. Then added a cool blues bass guitar groove and a scratchy guitar rhythm section making this track really stand out. On this track I was playing my Stratocaster guitar and the Cort bass. The melody and solo work in this track, are smoking hot. This track really will get you moving. Let’s give I’m Gonna Let It Ride a listen.

Next is Make It A Double from the CD 10. This track starts off with that cool Bass Guitar riff. The guitar chords and piano work on this track keep pushing the track forward. The guitar solo drops in and out giving it this cool building feel. I wanted in this track to be a blend of blues with a smooth jazz groove. Let’s give Make It A Double a listen.

Next up is Run With Me from the CD Living In Strange Times. Oh, how I love this track. In this track I am having a conversation between the acoustic guitar and keyboards. I’m playing the acoustic electric and grand piano sound for the melody. Later I bring in the Fender Stratocaster for a hot guitar solo about halfway through the song. Let’s give Run With Me a listen.

Next is For All The Good Times from my cd Told Ya. This track is in the time signature of 6/8. I love this tracks groove, with its walking bass guitar line, and drums. This song is another conversation between the guitar and the piano. So, while the bass guitar, drums and chords are holding down the foundation. The guitar and piano are talking back and forth in a complex flurry of notes or if you will words. Check out the Stratocaster solo towards the end of the track Here is another conversation song. Let’s give For All The Good Times a listen.

Next up is Tired (Tired of Not Being Seen) from the CD Living In Strange Times. I never thought of myself as a blues guitarist but once I started down the path of blues, I found I really do love writing blues jams. On this track, along with guitar solo and melody, I play a pretty hot Hammond Organ solo that ties in perfectly with the guitar solo. This is a very cool blues track. Let’s give Tired (Tired of Not Being Seen) a listen.

Last up is Just Stay from my cd Told Ya. In my opinion, this is one of my very best smooth jazz ballads. This track starts off soft and simple with just an electric piano. The song has a sweet melody played on the guitar that has a counter melody played on the piano. But the real fun comes in towards the end of the track when it builds with strings and horns and a killer guitar solo over the top. Let’s give Just Stay a listen.
