Hello, and welcome back to my podcast, R. E. Fort Without Music Life Has No Soul. In this episode of my Featured Tracks Playlist November 26, I thought we would take a look at two tracks from my 2026 release Real Enough and three tracks from my 2025 release, Stop Wait and Think. From Real Enough I selected the title track Real Enough and Listen Up. From Stop Wait and Think, I’ve selected I Don’t Really Know Anymore, Just Remember I’m there for you and Phoebe’s Lullaby. As always, I’ve created a playlist of these tracks on YouTube, YouTube Music, Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, with links in this post and on my website at refort.co/playlist. Let’s get to the playlist.

Kicking us off is Real Enough. What can I say about this track that I haven’t already? Well, those opening hits came from a conversation with my son Christopher as I was working on the track. He loved those hits as the transition to the solo section but suggested that I make them tighter with very little sustain and start the track with them. I must admit I love it. For the sound canvas, chords and orchestration I used my Fender Stratocaster, Rhodes electric Piano, Strings and cool horns. For the melodies I used my Martin Acoustic electric and a cool layer of Ion Flux Vox and DX Maina sound fonts. The solo is my Gibson SG. This song really rocks and I had a blast programming the drums on this one. Let’s give Real Enough a listen.
Next up is Listen Up. I wrote this track in the time signature 6/8 which gives me lots of room for improvisation and expression on the melodies. I loved that bass guitar line so much I started the track with it. I always here the title in that melody “Listen up before it’s too late”. I played the guitar chords on my Fender Stratocaster getting the bright gritty sound. The melody I used my Gibson SG and for the solo I went back to my Fender Stratocaster. On keyboards for the chords and sound canvas I used a Rhodes Electric Piano, Strings and Horns and the melody I used that layered Ion flux Vox and Dx Mania sound font. Let’s give Listen Up a listen.
Next up is I Don’t Really Know Anymore. I really had fun writing and arranging this track. To me, the rhythm section and overall sound canvas of this track gives it a cool island vibe. For the chords and sound canvas, I layered my Gibson SG, Fender Acoustic Electric guitars, a Fender Rhodes electric piano and a String Orchestration sound I love. The walking bass line is simple, but with the drum programming the song has great movement. For the melody I used a very cool Mayfield Flute sound along with my Fender Acoustic Electric. There is something about a flute sound with a guitar that sounds awesome to me. My Stratocaster is echoing the melody and providing a counter melody. I played the solo on my Gibson SG. Let’s give I Don’t Really Know Anymore, a listen.
Next up is Just Remember I’m Always there for you. This big, bold track is simply awesome. For the chords and sound canvas, I’m using my favorite Rhodes electric piano, Strings, Horn sound fonts and my Fender Acoustic Electric. The melodies are played using my Fender Stratocaster and that layered Ion Flux Vox and DX Maina, and I added the Horns to help drive the melody. I used my Fender Stratocaster for that solo on this track. This track is a big bold rhythmic soul jam with a killer solo. Let’s give Just Remember I’m Always there for you, a listen.
To close out this month’s playlist is Phoebe’s Lullaby. I wrote this lullaby for our first granddaughter Phoebe Jude Ann aka PJ. I was sitting at my grand piano and the melody for the track came to me. I really wanted this to be just a beautiful piano and soft strings lullaby. But as I started working on this track playing the melody on my Ibanez Nylon acoustic electric and that beautiful Rhodes electric piano sound. The song grew and I ended up adding drums, my bass guitar and a cool little solo. Let’s give Phoebe’s Lullaby, a listen.
