Podcast and Featured Tracks Playlist August 2026
Playlist
Kicking off my August playlist is the title track Stop Wait and Think from my 2025 releases. This track is a huge Rhythmic Soul jam with a big sound and killer solo. I hear the title of this song in those horns, and guitar chord changes of this track. I used my Fender Stratocaster for all the guitar work, and I love the way it and the DX Maina sound patch work together. The horns on this track still get me the way they build and hit. The guitar solo soaring over the horns and strings really rocks this track. Let’s give Stop Wait and Think a listen.
Next up is the title track Life on the Other Side from my 2023 release. On this soulful blues ballad I’m using my Fender Acoustic electric for the melody and solo in this track. I used a Rhodes Electric piano sound and the guitar for the counter melody. The main melody features a Grand Piano sound and the Fender Acoustic Electric. For that guitar solo, I used my favorite rock or distortion effect from Guitar Rig on my Acoustic Electric. Let’s give Life on the Other Side a listen.
Next up is Love Won’t Go Away, from my 2025 release Stop Wait and Think. I love this track and its smooth groove. I think the drums and chords give it a kind of Caribbean vibe. For the melody I used a Grand piano sound and my Fender acoustic electric guitar. I love that bass guitar line on this track, it’s bouncy and fun to play. For the rest of the orchestration, I used a Fender Rhodes electric piano sound, my Fender Stratocaster for the chords and soft rising Strings. Let’s give Love Won’t Go Away a listen.
Next up is Listen to Your Heart from my 2023 release Life on the Other Side. I love this simple but beautiful song. I start this track with just a grand piano and soft strings which is what I heard when I was writing it. The song came to me when I heard my daughter humming a melody and was inspired to start writing. I love this track’s simple but beautiful orchestration, with just that grand piano sound, the strings, the bass guitar and soft easy-going drums. I love the third section with those piano and guitar solos or improvisation before the ending of this song. Then the ending, with just the grand piano, strings and guitar. Let’s give Listen to Your Heart, a listen.
To close out this month’s playlist is Why Don’t Ya Just Let Us Play from my 2023 release Life on the Other Side. This one has a huge orchestration, with a Rhodes electric piano, horns and the rhythm guitar for the chords. I’m using my Gibson SG for the rhythm and melody, and my Fender Stratocaster for the solo on this track. I started writing this track with the bass guitar part and later recorded the rhythm guitar parts. I had such a blast programming those drums on this track.
