Living in Strange Times © 2020
This CD “Living in Strange Times” was mostly created during the Covid-19 crises. Two tracks where actually written on a cruise ship on the Mexican Rivera in January 2020 just before the pandemic hit. The rest of the tracks where written back home in Phoenix and living through the social unrest, lock downs because of the pandemic and missing our family and friends. So far, my wife and I have not contracted Covid-19 but we lost friends and family members during this sad year. I guess that is where the title comes from “Living in Strange Times” or living through them.
This CD is a mix of blues tracks smooth jazz jams and ballads. Each of these tracks on this CD are awesome. The title track, Living in Strange Times is a great blues track. Far from Home is a blues track that has a great vibe, great piano and guitar solos and is simply beautiful. Run with Me, came about while playing around with different time signatures in this case 6/8-time signature. Latin Dreams was written on the cruise ship and has a great Latin and Afro-Jazz feel to it. Tired is a great blues track written in 6/8-time signature. I hear “I am tired of not being seen” throughout this song. After the Gig was named by my wife, she felt this song is what a band would jump into at the end of the gig. Let me Take you Away is a wonderful ballad. Both Let Me Take You Away and Latin Dreams where inspired by that cruise and the amazing views, sounds and experience of the Mexican Riviera. My Haunted Mind is a very cool jazz blues track with a spooky feel to it. Our Time is a wonderful ballad or love song I named and wrote for the love I feel for my wife. Last on the CD is “Know that your loved” this started out as a lullaby that quickly changed to a smooth jazz ballad. This CD Living in Strange Times has a great feel and to me, my best CD showcasing my favorite styles of music and my exploration of music. I hope you enjoy the tracks as much as I do.
