The Book Review

Foreign Deceit (David Wolf Book 1)

Foreign Deceit is the first of 13 books in the David Wolf Mystery Thriller Series. In this book Jeff Carson, introduces us to David Wolf, a Deputy Sergeant with this Sheriff department in the Colorado Rockies. Wolf is on a missing child case and is also dealing with jealousy over his pending promotion to sheriff from another member of the sheriff’s department. All of this takes a back seat when Wolf gets a call that his brother, who lives in Italy is dead. The Italian local police are calling it a suicide, but wolf can’t believe that his brother took his own life.

Wolf now needs to fly to Italy, pick up his brothers remains, figure out what really happened to his brother and figure out why, the local police believe his brother committed suicide. Jeff Carson does an amazing job at depicting the beauty of Italy and its people.

This book is captivating and exciting. On my scale of 1 to 5, 1 being don’t bother and 5 a real page turner, I give Foreign Deceit, a 4. Jeff Carson, from what I can tell from this first book in the series, is up there with Baldacci, DeMille and some of my other favorite writers. He does a great job at painting a scene and building strong characters. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
